Réseau santé Alberta
What We Do and Why
For nearly two decades, Réseau santé Alberta (Francophone Health Network of Alberta) has been working collaboratively with health professionals and the health care system, advocating for language and culture as a key components of quality health care and to raise awareness in order to improve access to French-language services in key areas of health in Alberta.
Our work is province-wide, with a focus on all regions and their unique health needs. As a leader, we are actively involved in decisions that affect the overall health and personal well-being of Francophone Albertans in all their diversity. We do this by strengthening relationships with health stakeholders and by promoting greater collaboration between the health care system and the Francophone community.
Priority Areas
At the beginning of 2022, Réseau santé Alberta established three 2022-2025 priority directions: 1) Empower partners; 2) Make services offered in French known to Francophone communities; and 3) Raise awareness among health stakeholders… all in order to achieve a health care system where French-speaking Albertans are represented and served in French.
We also contribute to the development of French-language health services by
- Conducting population health research and needs assessment
- Creating and managing work groups to tackle major issues, e.g. mental health, senior health
- Promoting the active offer of French-language services by health professionals
- Encouraging the active demand for such services by the French-speaking population
