Creating a communications toolkit to publicize and promote the strategies, tools, and updated trainings to partners in the francophone settlement sector and the health sector in order to help newcomers navigate French-language health services more effectively.

Summary of activity
The health networks are developing a toolkit of paper and electronic tools for presenting and promoting the strategies undertaken to address issues in navigating Ontario’s health care system. The purpose of this toolkit is to promote the following newly updated tools and trainings: OZi, Active Offer, Health Human Resources Strategy and eQUITY Link. This campaign will tell partners about the measures taken to improve service quality for francophone immigrants when it comes to health-related issues and accessing health services, as well as approaches being used to improve navigation of Ontario’s health system.
Desired outcomes
Partners from the settlement sector and the health sector are familiar with the strategies implemented and have up-to-date tools and trainings to address the health needs of newcomers.
Developments to date
- A video and a webinar presenting two newcomers’ different experiences with navigating the health system
- Enhancement of the Active Offer and Health Human Resources Strategy training tools as well as the eQUITY Link platform with respect to issues in “equity, diversity and inclusion and the specificities of francophone immigration”
- Mini-module on francophone immigration to be added to the active offer training and a cross-sectional review of the Active Offer tool with respect to matters of inclusion, diversity, and francophone immigration
- Review of the Active Offer and Health Human Resources Strategy tools with respect to matters of inclusion and diversity
- SIF Ontario kit: A tool that includes different resources and useful information and practices for health and settlement workers who deal with francophone newcomers
