Summary of activity
Supporting the work of COMPAS (a local service for supporting newly arrived francophones during their settlement process) by the Réseau Santé en français de Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador (RSFTNL). This work includes assessing the specific needs of francophone newcomers to minority communities and referring them to the appropriate public and community services (education, health, recreation, employment, etc.) while providing ongoing support. The RSFTNL is also organizing a tour of health centres and community meetings in which health professionals set up information booths and tell newcomers about Newfoundland and Labrador’s health system.
Desired outcomes
COMPAS has greater capacity and newcomers collectively better understand the health system.

- A PowerPoint presentation on the health system and the services available in French
- Two guideline documents for mental health promotion
- A roundtable for multi-sector collaboration (health, immigration, settlement, justice, and newcomers)
